Always verify before you buy or build

Material coverage varies between manufacturers, product lines, batches and site conditions. The figures used here are typical published values, but the packaging in front of you always wins. Check it before purchasing.

For anything structural — stairs, framing, footings, load-bearing work — confirm your figures against your local building code and your building department. Codes differ by jurisdiction and change over time. Where we cite the International Residential Code, your local amendments may be stricter.

We work hard to keep these calculators accurate and we correct errors promptly when they are reported. Even so, this site is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the calculations are free from error or fit for any particular purpose.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, OneTripDIY accepts no liability for any loss, cost, damage or injury arising from the use of this site — including over-ordering, under-ordering, wasted material, project delay, or work that fails inspection. Safety

Many home projects involve tools, heights, dust, chemicals and electricity. Use appropriate protective equipment, follow manufacturer instructions, and where you are not confident, hire someone who is.
