Privacy Policy

OneTripDIY is run by Asad Reza, in Bangladesh, who is responsible for the personal information described here. This policy explains what the site collects, why, how long it is kept and what happens to it. It applies to this website only. Questions go to hello@onetripdiy.com or through the contact page.

What we collect

Things you type into a calculator

Calculations run inside your own browser. Your measurements are not sent to us, not stored, and not seen by us — with one exception, and only if you choose it.

If you use the Send me this list box on a calculator page, that one calculation is sent to our server so we can put it in the email: the numbers you entered, the quantities that came out, and the address you gave us. We do not keep the measurements after the email has gone out.

That box has a separate, unticked option to receive a few tips for the job you are working on. Only if you tick it, we keep your address, which calculator you used and when each tip is due — at most three emails, then it stops. Every one has an unsubscribe link, and the schedule is deleted 90 days after the last one is sent.

If you sign up for email

We store the email address you give us and the date you signed up, so we can send occasional updates about new calculators. Nothing else. Every email includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing stops all email to you immediately; we keep a note that you unsubscribed, so that you are never added back by mistake.

If you use the contact form

We store the name, email address and message you send, so we can reply and so we can follow a reported error through to a fix. A copy is emailed to us.

Usage statistics we count ourselves

We keep daily totals of how the site is used, so we know which calculators and sheets are worth improving. For each day we count: which pages were viewed; which website, if any, a visit came from (the site name only, not the full address); the words typed into this site's own search box; which printable files were downloaded; and how often each of our own promotions was seen and clicked.

These are counters. They set no cookie, record no IP address and are not linked to you or to one another. Please do not type personal details into the search box — what is searched for is counted as typed.

Stopping abuse

To stop forms being flooded and passwords being guessed, we briefly keep a scrambled form of your IP address alongside the times of recent attempts. It is a keyed hash that changes every day, so it cannot be turned back into your address or used to connect one day's visits to another's. It is used for nothing else.

Google Analytics

If we use Google Analytics, it loads only after you choose Accept all in the cookie notice. It sets cookies and collects usage data including approximate location, device and browser. Google's own privacy policy governs that data.

Advertising and cookies

This site carries advertising, which is what keeps the calculators free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.
• Ads and their cookies load only after you choose Accept all. If you choose Essential only, neither is loaded. You can change your choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators will still work.

Affiliate links and sponsored content

Some pages recommend tools or materials. Where we would earn a commission from a purchase, the recommendation says so right beside it, and so does anything a sponsor has paid to place. Following one of those links takes you to the seller's own site, which may set its own cookies to record that you came from us; its privacy policy, not this one, covers what happens there. A commission never changes the calculator's arithmetic or the figures we publish.

How long we keep things

• Newsletter address: until you unsubscribe, then only the note that you did.
• Tips schedule: 90 days after the last tip is sent.
• Contact messages: until the matter is dealt with. Ask and we delete yours.
• Record of emails sent: a rolling log, trimmed automatically so the oldest entries drop off.
• Usage counters: kept, since they hold nothing about any person.

What we never do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not share your email address with anyone else.
• We do not ask for payment details, because nothing here is for sale.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email hello@onetripdiy.com and we will act on it within 30 days.

If you are in the EU or UK, our lawful basis is consent for email, advertising and analytics cookies, and legitimate interest for the usage counters, abuse prevention and replying to your messages. You can also complain to your data protection authority. If you are in California, we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and the date at the top.
